YASMIN YUSUFF
Bio: Yasmin Yusuff is one of the most familiar voices in Malaysia, having been on radio for 18 years,and has beenthe voice for countless radio and TV commercials, phone-answering services, elevators, and until recently, the LRT and the KLIA Aerotrain.
She conducted the FIRST live radio telephone “call in” ever on Malaysian radio at Radio 4. She was voted “Most Popular Radio DJ” in 1997 by “Malay Mail” reader poll.
Malaysian Music Academy “AIM” award winner in 1997, in recognition for most contribution to Radio – the first and only time this award has been given out “Best DJ Award 2001” from MACP (Music Copyright Protection body) while at WOWfm.
She recorded 2 albums in the early 80's which produced 2 number one singles. As an actress, she played Jessica in the longest running
TV drama series in Malaysia, Opah, which ran for 15 years. She has also acted in movies, TV dramas, and in a telemovie co-starring with Kabir Bedi.
She is one of the most successful Miss Malaysia Universe title holders. She won 3rd place for Best National Costume at Miss Universe 1978, the first time Miss Malaysia brought home a trophy. Currently Yasmin is a much sought-after MC, and is also busy as Lady Golf Captain of the Royal Selangor Golf Club.

Gowri Paary is highly passionate about children's literacy. She also likes to bring more diversity into her books. she had grown up reading books that she could not identify with. Thus, Vijay and the capsicum was born. Gowri likes to includes moral values in her stories and family values play a vital role in her stories. in her book, she includes a question segment for parents and teachers to help discuss themes in the story with their children.
Gowri is a constant migrant, educator and actor amongst other things. She is extremely passionate about sewing, performing arts and travelling. She currently lives in Australia with her husband, son and daughter. Vijay and the capsicum is the second book she has written. Her book is available for purchase via email and also at Silverfish bookstores, Bangsar Village 2.
Dr. Jayanti Bhave is Deputy Director at IBSAR group of colleges, Karjat Campus.  She has a social science background and also worked in with NGOs. She is a Ph.D from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Her expertise areas of interest are story telling for all age groups (as pedagogical tool), conducting soft skills training programs on motivation, leadership, and team work and confidence building.
Bihzhu Penang-born nightingale BIHZHU is blessed with a rich, soulful voice. Combined with her genuine songcraft that she calls 'heart music', her charming presence has enchanted audiences all over the world, from intimate acoustic concerts to music festivals all over Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, China, and Australia, and she’s fresh from her tour in India, January 2019.

After years with pop-jazz band Rhapsody and dub outfit Layan Sound System, Bihzhu embarked on her solo career in 2011, launching it as a featured artist in Julie's Biscuits Nationwide 'Share The Love' campaign with her smile-inducing single, "The Heart Way".

The infectious tune was also chosen for a Penang Global Tourism ad featuring the famed shoe couturier Dato’ Jimmy Choo on the Asian Food Channel that aired for 14 weeks in 10 different countries.
Bihzhu also recently made a cameo appearance in the 2017 Penang Hokkien movie "You Mean The World To Me" directed by Saw Teong Hin, performing 'The Heart Way'.

In 2011, her debut album 'Nightingale Tales' received much airplay on Malaysia’s national radio stations 9.88FM, Capital FM, BFM Radio, Traxx FM, AFO Radio, Hitz.FM, RedFM as well as the Los Angeles-based ‘Woman of Substance’ radio and Minneapolis’ Big Brain Radio Show in the United States.

Her single "Bright Veins", released in March 2015, continues in the vein of uplifting music and she also penned the lyrics for "We Will Believe Again", the upbeat theme song for 2016's box office hit 'Ola Bola', by Chiu Keng Guan, Director of 'The Journey'.

  1. Hi Shanthini Venugopal... I liked chapter 7 that was broadcast on 3rd March, more so because it was all about women and women power.. the hard work and determination ..that can take one places!
    I love the poem that you read. The song Bhizhu sang that stems out of pain, was inspirational for me.
    Gowri's story was interesting.
    I particularly liked your introduction and narration.. ..it gives me more ideas to try out more things that are in my head !
